Excel Basic: 3 Classes/6 Hours - This course introduces students to spreadsheets. Basic concepts and topics are introduced, including editing worksheets, changing the appearance of worksheets, formatting cells, creating formulas, and charting worksheet data. Students should be familiar with Windows.


Excel Intermediate: 3 Classes/6 Hours - This secondary level course introduces advanced topics including: applying advanced functions and formatting, data analysis, managing workbooks, creating tables, and utilizing graphics and templates within worksheets. Students should be familiar with topics in Excel Basic.


Excel Advanced: 3 Classes/6 Hours - The advanced level course teaches students how to work with Lookup functions, Macros, and PivotTables, along with advanced formatting and analysis tools, Collaboration, Workbook sharing, and the integration of Excel with other programs such as Word and Access. Students should be familiar with Excel Basic/Intermediate.


Word Basic: 3 Classes/6 Hours - This course is a basic introduction to word-processing. Students will learn to create and edit business letters, memoranda, press releases, simple reports and formatting tools, as well as working with tables. Students should be familiar with Windows/Internet.


Word Advanced: 3 Classes/6 Hours - A more advanced word-processing course focused on creating research papers, utilizing mail merge, creating newsletters and other promotional materials. Students should be familiar with topics in Word Basic.


Access Basic: 3 Classes/6 Hours - An exploratory course in Access, introducing students to designing databases, creating tables, working with forms, and querying a database. Students should be familiar with topics in basic Windows/Internet/Excel.


Access Level 2: (Intermediate) 3 Classes/6 Hours - This course teaches students more advanced features in Access, including using reports to display information, refining table design, customizing input forms and creating complex queries.  Students should have taken Access Level 1.


Access Level 3: (Advanced) 3 Classes/6 Hours - This course teaches students advanced features in Access, including customized reports, customizing the database interface, importing and exporting data using Excel, Word and HTML, and maintaining the database. Students should be familiar with topics in Access Intermediate.


Essential Computing Skills: 3 Classes/6 Hours - This course introduces students to Windows and related topics such as Controlling programs, managing files, navigating the Internet, storing and sharing files online, as well as Outlook and other computing concepts. This course will prepare students for navigation through other computer applications.


Business Communication Skills: 3 Classes/6 Hours - This course teaches basic writing skills for business documents and emails. Students will learn listening skills and proper situational communication, non-verbal communication and how to develop and deliver a great presentation.

Quaboag Valley Community Development Corporation (QVCDC) offers Computer Training Courses for new users, small businesses, and those wanting to brush-up on their skills. Small business owners and their employees may be eligible for free or discounted classes. Please see the topics and requirements listed below for each course before registering.

PowerPoint: 3 Classes/6 Hours - This course will cover the basics of creating powerful Level 1 & 2 presentations. Topics will include how to insert text and graphics, change colors and select slide schemes. Students will develop sample presentations as well as create their own original ones. Students should be familiar with Windows.


PowerPoint Level 2: (Intermediate) - 3 Classes/6 Hours - This course teaches students more advanced features in preparing a presentation, include hyperlinks, multimedia and add tables. Students should have taken PowerPoint Level 1.


Adobe Acrobat Pro: 3 Classes/6 Hours - This course teaches students how to create, work with, edit and convert PDFs.  Students learn to share and enhance PDFs, how to use PDFs with MS Office files and how to add signatures and security.


Adobe InDesign: 3 Classes/6 Hours - This course teaches students how to design and lay out documents for print and digital media, including how to add text, work with styles, graphics, and objects.  Learn to work with typography, create tables and transparencies and create a PDF.


Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom: 3 Classes/6 Hours - This introductory course teaches the basics of editing and composing photos for social media use.  Students earn to save and store image files, do basic image editing, use the paintbrush, airbrush, stamp and pencil tools.  Photoshop complements Lightroom, which teaches the basics of organizing, adjusting and sharing of photos from a variety of sources.  Learn to easily share photos on-line and on social media.


QuickBooks 1: 5 Classes/10 hours - An introduction to QuickBooks: navigate the QB window, manage QB files and basic accounting principles. Create a new company, set up the chart of accounts, subaccounts and classes. Set up items, invoices, receive payments, set up vendors, enter and pay bills, print checks, reports and reconcile bank and credit card accounts.


QuickBooks 2: 5 Classes/10 Hours - Examine QuickBooks’ inventory features; set up inventory and non-inventory items, sales tax, discounts and cost of goods sold. Track sales and adjustments to inventory, work with reconciliations.  Set up Balance Sheet accounts, budgets, employees and payroll items, create 1099 forms, estimates, time tracking, and progress invoicing. Create customized vendor and customer reports, create Financial Statements. Students should be familiar with Windows/Internet.
