Financial Fitness Club
The Quaboag Valley Community Development Corporation (QVCDC) is offering a 12-month matched savings program for low-moderate income residents of the Quaboag Region and Southern Worcester County. The program is called the Harrison and Diane Quirk Financial Fitness Club.
What is the Harrison and Diane Quirk Financial Fitness Club?
The club is a financial capability building and matched savings program offered with the MIDAS Collaborative. Its purpose is to help you save for one specific goal such as; appliance ownership, household repair, post-secondary education, vehicle ownership, housing, and business development. The program matches monthly savings up to a capped amount. This program is made possible thanks to a generous donation by Harrison and Diane Quirk; as well as funding from Baystate Health, The Health Foundation of Central MA, and the Massachusetts Division of Banks.
How does the Harrison and Diane Quirk Financial Fitness Club work?
The club is a year long program. The QVCDC will help participants complete an application, choose a goal and set up a bank account. Each participant will attend monthly financial fitness classes covering topics such as debt reduction, smart borrowing, spending plans, and how to read and improve your credit report.
Am I eligible?
You must be earning income and motivated to save toward your goal! You must be willing to attend a class each month, usually by zoom.
What benefits will I get?
You will receive financial fitness instruction from an accredited financial counselor and financial fitness coach. Your savings will be matched up to a capped amount and you will meet other people who also will be learning about financial fitness and what it means to them.
