What is QVCDC’s Financial Fitness Club?

QVCDC’s Harrison and Diane Quirk Financial Fitness Club is a financial capability building and special matched savings program offered with the MIDAS Collaborative and the Monson Savings Bank branch here in Ware. Its purpose is to assist low-income residents who work in Ware and Palmer and small business owners to put money aside for one specific goal: education, or a reliable, gas-efficient car, or a store or apartment rental, or technology or equipment for a small business. For every dollar that is saved in the program, QVCDC will match savings 1:1 up to a capped amount, thanks to generous donations by Harrison and Diane Quirk, Monson Savings Bank, TD Bank North Foundation and the Ware CDA.

How does QVCDC’s Financial Fitness Club work?

The Financial Fitness Club account is a matched savings account. For every dollar you deposit in an account that will be set up at Monson Savings, the QVCDC will put one matching dollar in a separate, matched savings account.

For example, if you deposit $50 every month, another $50 will be deposited in the matched savings account, for a total of $100 every month. There is a limit on the amount of deposits that will be matched and limits on withdrawals.

The QVCDC Financial Fitness Club will last 12 months, depending on your savings goal. QVCDC will help you choose one of the savings goals above and make a deposit schedule.  If you take out your money before the end of the program, you will lose all of the matching funds.
